๐Ÿ–๐Ÿป Reader, how're ya doin'?

Typical conversation throughout my career:

Client: I need this and that!

Me: I've never done it before, but generally it's do-able, so let's go!

This mindset brought me so many things in the last 14 years:

โ€‹

  • New and exciting projects
  • Satisfied clients
  • Higher salary and rates
  • Supportive superiors
  • Respect from colleagues
  • Best thing: excitement and knowledge

โ€‹

I have always been someone who loves learning new things and challenging himself. That mindset benefits me in so many ways. I am constantly evolving as an Artist and I can offer more and more services and skills.

A few mails ago I was talking about "the mindset that accelerated my career" โ€“ and that is the helper mindset. The way of thinking I am talking about today (the challenge mindset) is actually very much connected to that. By trying to help our clients, we will have to push ourselves here and there. And you can openly talk about your challenges with your clients. In my experience, being honest and frank is the best way to build trust. And in the end, if your client realizes how much effort you put into learning things for HIM, he will appreciate you even more.

Mindfulness quote of the week

โ€œ
Your calm mind is the ultimate weapon against your challenges. So relax.
โ€” Bryant McGill

When a client realizes that he can rely on you to create the artworks he needs (and his clients need), then his drive to deliver even more cutting edge visuals will thrive. Then he will trust to give you more challenging jobs. And since you will gain more and more skills and knowledge and you have his trust, you can become a sort of adviser to him; even presenting him new ideas to him that you would like to create!

Still challenging myself today

I am not working as a CGI Artist anymore, but I am never thinking inside my limitations. So when I wanted to create an HDR nightsky timelapse I spent days and weeks researching and developing to finally release my HDRI Sky Timelapse - Vol. 3: Starry Nightsky (Moon, Milkyway).

It's a complicated mixture of different tools like Stellarium, Suncalc, Mooncalc, After Effects, Optical Flares, NASA photographs, real HDRI moon footage and LOTS and LOTS of render times.

To my knowledge, there isn't any asset like it anywhere to be found! Check it out and challenge yourself to create something new and stunning with it!

Reader, what are challenges that you faced in your career? And what are challenges that you are struggling with right now? Hit reply and maybe I can be of help!

โ€‹

I appreciate you. Have a fantastic day!

Warm Regards,

Manuel

PS: Last week I sent out a video about lighting chrome and other reflective objects to make them look stunning. It's a newsletter exclusive video, so if you haven't done so, don't forget to check it out if you are working on product shots, automotive or in the entertainment industry:
